The Thai Prince Mahidol Award Foundation honours the Heidelberg virologist Ralf Bartenschlager
Ralf Bartenschlager, member of SFB1129, is the 2019 winner of the Prince Mahidol Award in the field of medicine.
The award goes back to His Royal Highness Prince Mahidol of Songkla, who fundamentally modernized the Thai health care and education system.
Bartenschlager has received the award, endowed with 100,000 US dollars, for his research on the Hepatitis C virus.

The award ceremony took place on 30 January 2020 in the Great Palace of Bangkok.
