Die AG Urban (TP 16) arbeitet schon viele Jahre am Eintrittsmechanismus des Hepatitis D-Virus. Auf der Basis ihrer Erkenntnisse haben sie einen Wirkstoff entwickelt, der den Eintritt von Hepatitis D und B in die Wirtszelle hemmt. Der Wirkstoff wurde im August 2020 von der EU als erstes Medikament (Hepcludex) zur Behandlung gegen chronische Hepatitis D-Infektionen zugelassen.

The Urban group (project 16) has been working on the entry mechanism of the hepatitis D virus for many years. Based on their research findings they have developed a drug that inhibits the entry of hepatitis D and B into the host cell. The substance was approved by the European Commission in August 2020 as the first drug (Hepcludex) for the treatment of chronic hepatitis D infections.
